Significantly Improve the Appearance of Your Skin
Is your Acne affecting your Confidence?
We know the impact that this skin condition can have on your confidence and whether you are suffering from hormonal acne in your adult life, we can help you find the best course of treatment to manage your acne and significantly improve its appearance. Acne is a disorder of the skin’s sebaceous glands that affects the majority of the population at some point in their lives. 25% of those affected by acne in their teens will go on to develop permanent scarring.
The effects on personal appearance caused by acne and acne scarring can cause significant psychological, social and occupational problems. While most people who suffer from acne experience the condition when they reach puberty, adult acne can develop as late as your twenties or thirties. Characterised by blackheads and spots, acne most commonly affects the face but can also develop on the back and chest area.
Common Acne Symptoms
Clogged pores: these usually manifest as either whiteheads or blackheads and are caused by an overproduction of skin cells.
Painful lumps: formed as either nodules or pus-filled cysts, these painful lumps sit much deeper below the surface of the skin than regular spots.
Oily skin: it can be difficult to determine whether oily skin is a cause or symptom of acne, but it is commonly found in people with the condition.
Bacteria: increased sebum production and clogged pores create the perfect environment for acne-causing bacteria to further multiply.
During your free initial consultation, we will create a tailor-made treatment plan to suit your specific acne issues and skin type, ensuring that you benefit from the best possible results.
Generally, acne-prone skin responds best to a combination of treatments.
These include: IPL, LED, Skin Peels and Oxygen Therapy Facials.
How does Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) work?
The light emitted from the Intense Pulsed Light system directly targets overactive sebaceous glands, greatly reducing the total number and severity of active lesions and lessening the inflammation and occurrence of break-outs. The light stimulates the production of new collagen to improve skin texture but also tackles any associated brown/red hyper-pigmentation and redness associated with acne break-outs.
How is the treatment carried out?
A layer of gel is applied to the skin. The light guide is then placed onto the skin and a short pulse of light is released. The applicator is passed over the skin several times before moving onto the neighbouring area, and the process is repeated until the whole area is treated.
Am I suitable for treatment?
Almost everyone can be treated, apart from very dark skin tones, sun-tanned individuals. If you are pregnant or taking Roaccutane (an acne medication) it is best not to undergo laser or IPL treatments.
How does the treatment feel?
Treatment is mildly uncomfortable but no anaesthetic is required. Many people describe the sensation similar to the flick of an elastic band.
What should I expect after treatment?
How long does each treatment take?
A typical session takes 30 to 40 minutes.
Are there any side effects?
How many treatments are necessary?
The number of treatments vary from person to person, typically 6 IPL treatments will result in a significant improvement.
