Micro-needling

Improving the Condition of Your Skin

What is Micro-needling?

Collagen induction therapy (CIT), also known as micro-needling, dermaroller, demapen or skin needling, is a cosmetic procedure that involves repeatedly puncturing the skin with tiny, sterile needles (micro-needling the skin). Micro-needling is used to treat and improve conditions like scarring including acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, loose skin, skin texture, pore size, brown spots, stretch marks, and pigmentation issues.

Demaroller / Dermapen

How does Dermaroller/Dermapen treatment work?

A Dermaroller/Dermapen is an instrument that creates micro pathways in the skin for products to penetrate deeper into the dermis, the tiny punctures made by the micro-needling device stimulates a wound-healing response within the skin, kick-starting cell renewal and the production of collagen and elastin.

This helps to rejuvenate the appearance of the skin, plumping out fine lines and wrinkles and improving the appearance of marks, scars and stretchmarks. While the process involved in Dermaroller/Dermapen therapy might sound painful. A topical numbing cream is applied to the area being treated, meaning that the tiny micro needles that pierce through the outermost layer of skin are barely felt.

Benefits of Micro-needling

Wrinkles

It is very natural that as we age the production of the fibroblast cells that stimulate the growth of collagen and elastin diminishes, which will result in sagging of the skin, appearing of wrinkles, fine lines.
Skin needling will create the micro-injuries which will ultimately trigger the growth of fibroblast cells that will stimulate the production of collagen and elastin resulting in plumper and smoother-looking skin.

Scars

Treating scars is a most popular topic. Micro-needling is proven to improve or even fade out most types of scarring except for Keloid scars. Keloid scar is an abnormal growth of scar tissue that spreads beyond the top skin surface. Micro-needling can surely benefit anyone who is suffering from a variety of scars including acne scars, surgical scars and even stretch marks. Scar tissues are made up of an abnormal formation of collagen. Micro-needling works by penetrating through the epidermis to release and break down old scar tissue within the dermis. At the same time new skin cells are created which forms normal collagen and elastin, replacing the abnormal scar tissue.

Stretch Marks

These are similar to scars except stretch marks occur from rapid skin stretching. Although they are tougher to treat then a regular scars. Many people have reported excellent results with micro-needling, more treatments will be required. Micro-needling breaks down stretch mark tissue and triggers collagen growth. This eventually reduces or fades out you stretch marks over several treatments. 3 to 12 treatments are not unusual in order to see visible results.

Hyperpigmentation

is triggered by an unusual production of melanin by abnormal melanocyte cells. It generally occurs in people with a darker complexion. It is typically brought about by acne, wounds and prolonged exposure to the sun. Micro-needling can help reduce pigmentation by shedding the top layer of the skin. The wound healing response creates production of normal melanocyte cells. It also boosts the absorption and increases the concentration of active ingredients from your topical skin lightening products when used in conjunction with micro-needling thus improving its efficacy and speeding up results. Micro-needling is very safe for anyone who has a darker skin tone it does not lead to the loss of skin pigment.

Age Spots

Micro-needling benefits age spots via the same approach for hyperpigmentation by shedding the top layers of your skin, minimizing the appearance of age spots. It also improves the absorption and efficacy of active ingredients in your topical skin care products.

Enlarged Pores or Pore Size

Large pores are often located on the nose and around the cheeks. Micro-needling can help reduce the appearance of large pores by producing more collagen and slightly thickening the epidermis. However, since the epidermis renews and sheds approximately every 30 days this treatment will need to be repeated monthly.

Hair Loss

Micro-needling can benefit hair loss such as Alopecia. Alopecia also known as pattern hair loss. Needling has shown some of the best results. Micro-needling decreases hair loss by releasing endothelial growth factor that can promote hair growth, increases follicle size and promotes thicker hair. Combining micro-needling treatments with topical products such as Minoxidil is proven to boost your results significantly.
